Description: Required for all psychology majors. Theories of personality and their applications to current individual and societal psychological problems. This course is designed to give students insight into how psychologists approach the concept of personality. The goal of this course is to familiarize students with the major theories of personality,and the research methods used to test these theories. This course will expose students to many different theories of personality, and of therapeutic interventions stemming from those theories,with the expectation that students will continually examine the relative merits of each theory. For each theory, we will explore questions such as: What is personality? What are the traits that distinguish people? How can these traits be measured? How do people adapt? How do our cognitive processes affect out personality? How does our biology affect our personality?
